Jeff’s Island Lodge is located in one of the hundreds of islands in a lake with 2,360KM² extension (4 times the size of the city of Toronto) formed by the Uatumã River.

If you have ever thought about having an Amazonian experience and also enjoy fishing this package is without doubt your best choice. This program is very flexible and offers you intense contact with the Amazon culture and ecosystem, with the assistance and security of an experienced bilingual tour guide.

You will sail along the “Rio Negro”, get acquainted with the Natives’ habits and have contact with them, swim with the pink dolphins, try a lot of the local gastronomy with its tasty fish and local typical spices. You can enjoy the tropical fruits and juices as well. Yes, you will discover many unfamiliar flavours! You will be amazed by the city fish market, spices and a multitude of beautiful crafts. And of course, you will experience great fishing aiming for the famous and aggressive Peacock Bass and other Amazonian fish. This is a great cost x benefit package.

Fishing:

Under normal conditions this region is very fishy and provides several catches per day. Many groups of fishermen return every year to Jeff’s Island Lodge which proves the satisfaction of the fishermen. The region is protected against the indiscriminate capture of fish by an agreement signed in 2005, and since then the fish have been increasing every year in quantity and size. The 2 species of Tucunarés (Peacock Bass) found in this area are the “Paca” (Cichla Temensis Paca) and “Cichla Vazorelli” that weights on average between 3 and 15 lbs.

When fishing for Peacock Bass, it’s common to see other fish attacking your bait such as: Arowana, Trahira, Black Piranha, Payara (Vampire Fish) and Bicuda (Boulengerella Cuvieri).

Other fish present in these waters, like the Tambaqui (Colossoma Macropomum), Corvina and Piggy can also be pursued, but using different techniques… Fun guaranteed!
